From May 2\u20136, 2025<\/strong>, the PREPSHIELD project<\/strong> was proudly represented at the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM) Congress in Tokyo, Japan<\/strong>. The event brought together more than 1,000 participants<\/strong> from around the world, including leading professionals, researchers, and experts in the field of disaster and emergency medicine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Monica Trentin<\/strong> and Monica Linty<\/strong> from the Universit\u00e0 del Piemonte Orientale (UPO)<\/strong> presented the PREPSHIELD project, introducing its objectives, approach, and ongoing activities to an international audience of practitioners and academics committed to improving preparedness and response capacities.<\/p>\n

Showcasing PREPSHIELD\u2019s contribution to crisis preparedness<\/h3>\n

Their presentation highlighted how PREPSHIELD aims to enhance health crisis preparedness and response<\/strong> by integrating social, behavioural, and technological perspectives<\/strong>. The project\u2019s emphasis on inclusivity – especially involving vulnerable and hard-to-reach groups – <\/strong>resonated strongly with the congress\u2019s focus on equity and resilience in emergency medicine.<\/p>\n

The session sparked valuable exchanges on the importance of trust, communication, and community engagement<\/strong> in effective disaster response, reinforcing PREPSHIELD\u2019s alignment with global efforts to build more resilient societies.<\/p>\n
