On\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>23 January<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, the PREPSHIELD project was featured at the\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>first BRICSS <\/strong><\/span>webinar<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>dedicated to\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>Agent-Based Models (ABMs) of crises and disasters<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. The event brought together researchers and experts from across disciplines to explore how social simulation can support crisis preparedness and decision-making.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span><\/span>webinar<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>was organised by\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>BRICSS – <\/span>Building<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>ResilienCe<\/span>\u00a0with Social Simulations<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, a Special Interest Group (SIG) within the\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>European Social Simulation Association (ESSA)<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, the leading international network for social simulation research. BRICSS aims to strengthen scholarly exchange on social simulation in crisis and disaster contexts and to promote the use of these methods as credible tools for policymakers and practitioners.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During the\u00a0webinar,\u00a0<\/span>Francesca Giardini<\/span><\/b>\u00a0(University of Groningen) presented key insights from the PREPSHIELD project. Her presentation focused on findings from the project\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>empirical research<\/span><\/b>\u00a0as well as results from its\u00a0<\/span>agent-based models<\/span><\/b>, which are designed to explore social dynamics, trust, and compliance in crisis situations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The presentation generated strong interest and lively discussion among participants from different disciplinary backgrounds, highlighting the growing relevance of agent-based\u00a0modeling\u00a0for understanding complex social processes during crises and disasters.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
