ABOUT

WHY

The COVID 19 pandemic revealed that society was unprepared for such a widespread emergency. However, it also provided an opportunity to reflect on these challenges and improve future preparedness and response. PREPSHIELD aims to create a more comprehensive and people-centered approach to health crisis management, placing individuals and communities at the forefront of planning and decision-making.

HOW

PREPSHIELD will conduct a need analysis and develop recommendations for health crisis preparedness, response, and communication as well as tools to simulate future crises. The PREPSHIELD platform and app will be developed to facilitate communication among stakeholders and support decision-making in a real or simulated crisis. Once the recommendations and tools are developed, so-called “pilot exercises” will simulate future crises with stakeholders: one communication pilot, one tabletop exercise, and one online exercise relying entirely on the platform and app.

WHERE

The pilots exercises will take place at different scales in different countries: local (Hamburg, DE), regional (Piedmont, IT) and national (Romania).

WHEN

The PREPSHIELD project started in September 2024 and will end in August 2027. Its milestones are presented in the timeline below.
